Ugh! Moving in all your stuff is one thing, but actually getting it arranged and put away is a totally different story. `This is especially the case when you find out that your new place is significantly smaller than your old place. Even worse when you come from an apartment that has 5 very large closets (I got really lucky at my last place with closet space) to oh wait 1.
The other thing I want? A really big kitchen, or at least pantry haha. I have this little tiny, tiny pantry that is just not efficient to place things into because 1. You can’t stack cans. The vibrations, or something of that nature, knock them down when you try to place other things on the wire shelves. 2. You bury anything you place on the shelf if it’s toward the back and would have to take out things to get to whatever you want. NOT EFFICIENT. I’m going to have to come up with some sort of hack. Let me know if you have any ideas!
At my old place, I had an acquired (ahem, pulled off from the side of the road) shallow seven foot shelf that was perfect. I could stack whatever I needed, but since it was shallow, nothing was buried. Whenever I have a house I will make my pantry have a bunch of shallow shelves rather than the standard foot or so depth. Unfortunately, my new place has no room in the kitchen for any such a shelf. Perhaps I’ll get a bunch of storage boxes and place things in them so that I can pull out the box and pull out what I need? I’m not sure. Let me know please!
Although I’m not certain how to make the most use out of my pantry, I’m pretty good at figuring out how to store all my clothing without storage space. I’ve got a few of these “rescued” seven foot shelves that I have found work perfectly for fitting a TON of clothes on them! I’m going to make use of those as best I can and I think the one I used to have food stores on will maybe store my books and things like a real bookshelf haha!
It’s probably going to take me quite a while to get everything situated. It likely doesn’t help that I arrange things very specifically. Remember, I pack to fit everything in in the most efficient manner. Therefore, likes aren’t always with likes. It just depends on what fits where the best. Sure, most of my clothes are together, kitchen stuff is together, though. However, I arrange my clothes based on what type of clothing it is, and if hanging, what color it is. So, dresses go with dresses, red in front, black last. Yeahhh.. it’s going to take time to find all my different clothes and where I rolled them, separate them, and find a place for them. Oh well!
The other difficult thing is “seeing” the layout of the room and figuring out how I wanted things arranged since the space is SO different than what I had, and like I mentioned, much smaller. I have to thank my dad and brother in particular for putting up with me. My dad just sort of placed things where he thought they would fit. I however, would just get this sense that it didn’t “feel” right. Strange, I know.
The worst was that I couldn’t necessarily say what was wrong and how to fix it. It would take me a day, or two to think about various arrangements in my head and then have them move things around. Sometimes, I ended up moving things right back and tweaking them in a different way, but I think I have most of the large pieces in the right spot. Or, at least a way that feels better. I still have a bunch of little things around that I’m not yet sure what to do with, but perhaps it will come to me and I’ll figure it out at some point.
Anywho, I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend! Enjoy all the festivities and fireworks and all that fun stuff! Feel free to take along these tasty, fudgy, healthy brownies while you’re at it 🙂
Have any fun holiday plans?
Any ideas for my pantry?
- 1 banana frozen (break up into chunks if you can)
- 2 T cashew butter (I make mine, but here's a link)
- 1/2 T cinnamon (if you need some)
- 1/4 c unsweetened cocoa powder ( can get here if needed)
- 2 scoop plain pea protein (could sub chocolate or vanilla)
- 1 t vanilla extract (omit if using flavored protein)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and pregrease 8x8 baking dish
- Place all ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth
- Spatula out the mixture (it will be really thick) into your dish and spread until flat
- Bake for 20 minutes and take out and let cool before slicing into as many pieces as desired
- Save cooled leftovers in an airtight container placed in the fridge
- I cut mine into 12 pieces
- I make my own cashew butter, but if you prefer to buy yours, make sure to check the ingredient list.

Those look great. Sometimes vegan brownies look really dry, but these look so moist and chewy!! Thanks for sharing at the What’s for Dinner party. Hope you’re having a great week.
I agree, but yes these are yummy!
Your brownies look sinfully rich!
They are! But healthy! Yay haha
These look really good! Good luck on figuring out your pantry organization, I wish I had an idea or two for you.
Haha thanks! I wish you did too! Let me know if you happen to see/think of anything. I’d be forever grateful 🙂
I’m really into separating clothes by color and style as well! I see my friend’s closets and they don’t look like that and I don’t know how they find anything!
Your Fudgy Protein Brownies look so healthy and delicious! Thanks so much for linking up with us for #HealthyVeganFridays! I’m Pinning and sharing!
Haha ok phew. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who does that with their clothes. Thank you!
Yay! Gotta love desserts that don’t take very many ingredients to make!
I’m with you on the moving. I also want a giant kitchen + pantry (and counter space) someday. <3 I wish I had good advice for your pantry, but alas. I have a tiny one as well and kinda just Tetris-ed everything in as best I could. ._.
I am all for few ingredient-quick recipes. Thankfully I have a pretty good bit of counter space to work with this time so that should be helpful. I’ve sort of got cans and stuff laid on their ?backs? lol and sort of stacked that way so I can see, but I don’t know how well that will work. The other stuff is just stacked front to back and I already can’t get stuff out without moving like 5 other things and I haven’t even started majorly restocking lol. So..alas…I suppose well see
Fudgy brownies, these look delicious and so simple! Thank you for linking up with us for Meatless Monday! Hope you are having a great 4th!

LOVE that this is made up of a banana!!!! I made avocado brownies just like this (minus the nut butter) and they were BOMB! SO friggin’ delicious!!! A++
Oh nice! I’ve never tried subbing in avocado for sweet baked goods but I bet it would be so creamy and delicious!
My apartment kitchen in college was so small (and I shared it with 2 other girls) so I had to keep my cereal boxes in my bedroom! haha
Those brownies looks so yummy! I love that they’re healthy!
Oh no! That is tiny haha! Did you come up with any tiny kitchen hacks, efficient ways to store things in a pantry without burying everything else?
woah these look amazing! Can’t believe they are healthy!!!
I know, it’s awesome! Thank you! The nutritional profile for these babies is great I think.
