Ready to cool down with a refreshing, protein packed smoothie? Try this one that’s so thick you can eat it with a spoon for breakfast, snack or post workout (maybe even dessert;) . It’s a well rounded recipe with fats, carbs, protein, and fiber loaded up into one! It’s dairy free, but is super creamy and has the consistency of ice cream! Depending on protein powder used, this can also be vegan and clean.
The past few days have been jam packed with packing and moving. I’ve talked about my amazing family before. They have helped me out so much over the years and I love them dearly. This time, my mom, dad and one brother have been part of the mighty moving team.
I had run into some mover’s asking me why I hadn’t hired some movers. I was like, “Look at these guns, I can do it”. Hehe. *Muscle flex*. Nah, more so, it’s just that I’ve moved so often over the past several years I’m sort of a pro at it. I do, though, pride myself on being able to pull my weight and help with the heavy lifting.
Although I have to be super careful because of my back issues. There is definitely a right and wrong way to lift things people! Please don’t bend over at the waist and lift. So many people injure themselves that way. Separate your legs, squat down, chest up. Use your legs to do the work, not your back!
My mother had come over early to help me pack, which was a much needed help. Previously, I had just had boxes sort of scattered everywhere partially packed. It was all like:
I had thought I’d get a head start on it early, but found out how difficult that was. There were still so many things I used on a daily basis, or had a high potential of being used. Who knew! Thank goodness she was up for helping me get everything ready for the big day.
Soon, I’ll be seeing my new place for the first time. *cough, hope sight unseen will work out, cough* How terrifying and exciting all at the same time! Now since I’m an emotional eater and all, let’s cool down with a refreshing protein smoothie!
Anybody else moving?
Anybody else feel like they move WAY too much?
- 1/2 banana frozen
- 1/4 cup blueberries preferably frozen
- 1 scoop plain pea protein *can sub vanilla, or non-pea protein
- 1/2 T almond butter (I make my own, but here's a link)
- 1/2 t vanilla extract *omit if using vanilla protein powder
- 1 T psyillium husk powder (can get some here, I use powder form)
- 1 dash cinnamon (if you need some)
- 1 tray ice cubes *or to thickeness preference
- 1/2 cup liquid *or more if want thinner
- Use enough of your liquid of choice to cover the bottom of your blender
- Add the rest of your ingredients (I prefer ice last since it helps keep the other ingredients down)
- Add the remaining liquid (even more if you want it to be thin)
- Blend on high until smooth and creamy
- Pour into a bowl/cup, or eat it right out of the blender, grab your spoon and Enjoy!
- My liquid of choice is water
- I like my smoothies SUPER THICK, if you don't then omit some of the ice, and/or add more liquid

Smoothies are my favorite at this time of year. This looks so yummy, and such a pretty color! I love the almond butter in there– always so good in smoothies!
I agree! I love smoothies all year around, but this time of year they are particularly wonderful
That “alpaca your things” picture cracked me up! Good luck with the move! I’m sure the new place will be great. 🙂
Thanks so much for linking up with us for #HealthyVeganFridays! I’m Pinning and sharing your tasty looking BlueNana Almond Butter Protein Smoothie!
Thanks!!!
I’ve moved a lot lately too and most recently this past February. The whole process of moving stuff just isn’t that much fun. Thankfully you had help and this smoothie 😉
Yes thankfully I had help! I don’t know what I would have done without my helpers! I hope you had help, too and that you have adjusted well to your new location!
This looks amazing. I need to try it this week. Grocery run tomorrow! And good luck with the move. 🙂
It was so good and had the consistency of soft serve. Yummy. Thanks for the well wishes!
Have not tried the pea protein powder yet. love the blueberry banana combo. Thanks for joining meatless Monday today
Pea protein is really thick/dense sort of consistency. It can take some getting used to but it’s a nice clean alternative
One of my favorite combos except I use Vega and I don’t add the physillium husks. I have it but I never use it. Can’t go wrong with berries and almond butter!
Thank you for linking up with us for Meatless Monday!
Oh I would love to try Vega one day.
I love love love blueberries smoothies and always add almond butter too- makes it so tasty!
I agree! Almond butter did make it tasty!
