Double Chocolate Chai Banana Protein Oatmeal [Clean, Vegan, GF] & Belize Part 5
It’s been awhile since I put up a regular oatmeal post, so I feel like one is due! Up today is a 9 ingredient oatmeal recipe that is a nice #dessertforbreakfast kind of meal since it’s got chocolate in it! It is certainly healthy enough to eat for breakfast, though! Yay! I’ll also give you my last glimpse into my Belize post.
This is my last Belize post. So sad, I know. I’ve had a fantastic time recounting some of my adventures there. (If you missed those posts feel free to check them out. Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4.) My last post is going to be about my going home trip.
The airport, as I mentioned in an earlier post, was so tiny! It was hilarious, I thought my paper ticket I showed you guys was funny, but my ticket getting back to Belize international airport was a laminated color! Ha! Not even a real ticket. Hey, whatever works right? Besides, it’s way more eco-friendly, so I was ok with it.
When our color was called, we got up to board the plan. We walked outside and I was carrying my carry-on and my backpack. The workers stopped me and were like, “Hold on. We’ll help you. Wait here.” They took my carry on bag and gave it to my friend who then they proceeded to walk out to the plane. I was like: “Wait..why do I have to stay here? I can do this myself. I don’t need help getting on this plane.”
They then made me give up my backpack to and proceeded to let everyone else on the plane. Granted, I was quite confused at this point. Then, they came up to me and said, “OK, now we will help you on.” I was just like, “…OK?”. Then, they proceeded to take me to the front of the plane and opened the cockpit. And motioned for me to use them to help get into the front. I was like “Wait. What?! You want me in the front?!” I was confused and excited all at the same time since passengers were not ever in the front.
It was pretty awesome, though! Super hard not to grab the wheel, or touch any of the many, many buttons. Oh wait, or have my feet on the ground pedals haha. It was quite exciting, though, being able to sit up front. Â But otherwise, that’s mostly the extent of the exciting part of my return trip haha. Have any of you gotten to sit in the front like this?
Double Chocolate Chai Banana Protein Oatmeal [Clean, Vegan, GF]

- 1/3 cup old fashioned oatmeal
- 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 15 chocolate chips

-
Seep your chai tea bag in your liquid of choice for as long as possible. (Try for at least a couple of minutes)

Take 1/3 of that half of banana and smash it into the bottom of your dish. Place your oatmeal into a microwavable safe dish over top of the smashed banana and pour over your chai liquid
-
Cook in the microwave as directed
-
While the oats are cooking, dice up the rest of your banana into quarters
-
Once your oats are done, stir in your protein powder, psyllium husk powder, cinnamon, cloves and ginger
-
Top with the banana and chocolate chips
-
Eat and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Your amount of liquid may vary especially depending on how much psyllium husk powder you use ( if you use it) and how absorbent your protein powder is. I just used water, but feel free to use your preferred milk to make it creamier. Feel free to make this stove top if that is your preferred method to cook oatmeal.

That is so cool you got to sit up front! Chocolate chai banana oatmeal sounds super yummy! Definitely a breakfast I would enjoy!
It was awesome! The breakfast was too 🙂 Thanks!
Looks yummy! I’ve never heard of psyllium husk powder.
OOH I love it! It’s clean fiber. Excellent for digestion, but you have to be careful when you start with it if you are not used to it and need to drink a lot of water. I love it because it helps with satiety and makes things very thick (which is something I love haha)
Love a good oatmeal. Your trip looks amazing, thank you for joining us for Meatless Monday!
